Judgment by ~Bakrath:iconBakrath:

The Death Knell rang from the chamber’s walls,
I sat waiting in a pool of despair for my execution.

A shot rang out,
my flesh braced for impact,
It struck the poor fool to my right.

He wavered,
   gasping,
reeling in shock
and then collapsed.

More shots rang like screams in the night,
Striking and slaying those left to right.

Until I was left, silent with cowardice.
It was my turn to answer, too.

He fired and it struck
my trembling flesh,
I smiled and
cackled with my
final breath.

Heaven and Hell has no place for me;
Oblivion runs just as deep as
the memory.

Hopefully, this is the right place; I haven't submitted any writing before. This is an old piece (aren't they all?), a poem I wrote in high school during my seriously depressed days ... umm ... Don't ask me what it means, I have vague understandings of it. I have tons of poems that make no sense and are not organized. This one might be one of the better ones. When I read it, I think of a school setting with a teacher calling on the students, but this is a more extreme interpretation of it. I dunno ... did I say I was depressed?
